GLS Canada is a regional carrier built by GlobalPost. GLS Canada currently accepts all package types going to all cities and towns in Atlantic and Western Canada. Parcel shipments can weigh up to 150 lbs with a maximum length per piece of 120”.

  • An active account with GLS Canada

  • Your GLS Canada account username and password

  • Your GLS Canada account number

To connect your GLS Canada account to ShipStation:

For US- and Canada-based ShipStation accounts, certain plans will require you to enable the Your Carriers add-on before you can connect your carrier accounts. If you have not yet enabled it, you'll be prompted to do so before you can connect your accounts.

  1. Click the Add Carrier button.

  2. Select GLS Canada and click Connect.

  3. Enter your GLS Canada Username , Password, and Account Number, then choose an Account Nickname for you to identify the carrier account in ShipStation.

  4. Click Connect.

Shipment insurance, provided by the shipment's selected carrier, can be added to the shipment in ShipStation. This insurance would be in addition to any default coverage already provided by that carrier.

Shipping labels created for this carrier will include a tracking number that can be used to view the shipment status on the carrier's tracking website. Tracking may not be available for all shipping services.

Automatic Tracking

ShipStation can close the day's shipments for the carrier and submit the manifest electronically. The End of Day process may be mandatory or optional, based on the carrier and your account with them. A printable file may or may not be available when submitted electronically - see End of Day (PDF).

ShipStation can print information on the label as a label message (configure in Label Document Options). The carrier may or may not support all 3 label message fields and label messages may not be available for all services supported by this carrier.

This carrier can be used to create multi-package shipments, where multiple labels are created for a single shipment and the individual packages are linked together in a single shipment record with a master tracking number.

You can connect this carrier to ShipStation multiple times using different accounts and choose which account will be used to create each shipment.

GLS Canada Integration Notes

  • Third-party billing is not available in our integrations with GLS Canada.

  • GLS Canada has confirmation types when logged in to your shipper's account.

    • Signature is required for all freight services and also commercial addresses.

    • Residential addresses signature will not be required.

  • Tracking is available with the tracking number alone. However, additional details, such as a complete address and POD, are only available when you are logged in to their website.

Error: 'Bill To Account. Billing Country' must be between 2 and 2 characters. You entered 0 characters.

What to do: Check if the country field has been saved correctly within an automation rule for third-party billing.

Error: Failure: Invalid Credentials. (Bad Request).

What it means: This message can occur when attempting to connect GLS account. You may be using the incorrect GLS website credentials to connect your account. Your account may require API login credentials.

What to do: Submit a request to the GLS sales team to obtain your API credentials if you do not know what these are or where to find them.
